Louis Snitkoff, MD, FACP, serves as Secretary for the Alliance for Better Health Care’s Board of Managers. Dr. Snitkoff is also Chief Medical Officer of CapitalCare, a role he has held since 2000. CapitalCare is a physician-owned medical practice serving New York’s Capital Region.
Dr. Snitkoff completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Albany Medical Center from 1977-1979 and was Chief Medical Resident from 1979-1980. He entered the practice of General Internal Medicine in Schenectady in 1980.
Dr. Louis Snitkoff, a native of Brooklyn, NY, is an alumnus of Union College in Schenectady, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1973. He studied Medicine at SUNY Health Sciences Center in Brooklyn, graduating with honors in 1977.
Dr. Snitkoff is a past president of the Medical Society of the County of Schenectady and served as Internal Medicine Coordinator for the St. Clare’s Hospital Family Practice Residency for 23 years. He is President of the American Cancer Society Capital Region Board of Advisors and he chairs the Patient and Family Services Committee. Dr. Snitkoff is Immediate Past Chairman of the Healthcare Information Xchange of New York (HIXNY- the Regional Health Information Organization for Northern New York), and he chairs the Health and Public Policy Committee and the Diabetes Advisory Group of the New York Chapter of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Snitkoff is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physician Executives, and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
